For no good reason, other than that I love Spanish food I decided to have a week long festival of their cuisine. For seven days I shall cook only Spanish for dinner!
The idea came about with a trip to the huge Sydney Fruit & Vegetable Markets – normally I just buy all kinds of ingredients, from Asian to Mediterranean and quite often have bags full of disparate stuff that makes it harder to cook with. Being more single minded this time really paid off. I went in with the attitude of “Whatever’s cheap will dictate what I cook all week”. So with tomatoes, capsicum, chillies, zucchini and eggplant all in season a mediterranean approach stood out. Spanish food is my favourite med food so that’s what I’ll be cooking.
