Mexican & Italian Shake Up

Bitter, sweet and a little smoky - this celebration of Italy & Mexico is a burst of everything. Personally, I could drink Campari from the bottle for breakfast (goals) so anything mixed with this Italian treasure has already piqued my interest.

The Scullacione - translated as 'the spank' is a perfect hit of Campari, tequila, simple syrup and grapefruit juice. I tried a similar version of this in Nancy Silverton's fancy LA restaurant, Osteria Mozza recently and was very impressed. We obviously had to recreate the magic at home and Brendan, the other half did a sterling job - I think we had two of these on Christmas Eve - I say I think, the night was a little/lot blurry. Just the three of us (Shirley had water) watching Trading Places and drinking everything in the house.

More delicious Campari Cocktails!

Once you've polished a couple of these off, you might also want to try another of my Campari cocktails; the absolutely delicious Lucien Gaudin (named after an Olympic fencer for some reason), a heady Negroniesque concoction featuring Campari, Dry Vermouth, Orange Liqueur and Gin! That should tip you over the edge. Happy New Year, Or just happy Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc...

And, if by some chance you've never tried a Negroni (really!?) then mix a shot each of Gin, Sweet Vermouth & Campari and pour over ice and then melt into the sofa.
