My Pamplemousse Cocktail is a wonderful bitter/sweet affair that’s light, zingy, and full of flavour. Mix things up with this supercharged, super-delicious grapefruit cocktail.

I'm always trying new and interesting cocktails at home. I found myself at the liquor store recently eyeing up a bottle of Pamplemousse (Grapefruit) Liqueur. I LOVE grapefruit in all guises, so obviously popped it into the basket.

I love the bitterness of grapefruit, and the liqueur has some of that, so I just knew that it would work well with gin. My favourite, the Negroni, has a similar note which inspired me to try some vermouth - dry instead of sweet, and to pump up the grapefruit flavour, some fresh pink grapefruit juice.

Pamplemousse Cocktail

After a quick shake, it was ready and I must say - absolutely delicious!! I like it with a little lemon or grapefruit peel, which I'll agitate to activate the oils and then rub it around the rim of the glass for a little lemon infusion. It's wonderful!

If you're a fan of not too sweet cocktails that have a tartness, and bitterness then The Pamplemousse will be right up your rue. Santé!!

  • 1.5 oz gin
  • 1.5 oz grapefruit liqueur
  • 1.5 oz dry vermouth
  • 2 oz pink grapefruit juice
  • Ice
  • lemon or grapefruit peel (for garnish)


  • Combine and shake together all the ingredients with ice then pour over more ice in a highball glass. Serve with a lemon or grapefruit peel on top.
